![]() Scalability of metadata management in an exa-scale environment faces many challenges. Overcoming these requires in depth knowledge of the relationships between the specific data elements as well as the organization of the metadata transactions. Scaling doesn’t just mean "how many", it also means designing something that can be distributed and is balanced and self-leveling as it grows. This talk will discuss the challenges faced by the HPSS Collaboration design team in achieving a metadata management architecture that can grow with the demands of exa-scale computing. David Boomer has been with IBM for over 23 years, with a career centered on relational database design and management. From his snow-bound house in the Maine woods, he leads the HPSS Collaboration in this future design. |
